DIY $99 Thunderbolt eSATA Adaptor

This is a really cool idea! A DIY eSATA adapter posted on Camerarentalz.com

For those of us who are looking to download those huge RED Epic files this is a REALLY handy project!

He used a Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt adapter for eSATA drives and just hooked up a cable to the adapter and then plugged it into the back of the RED SSD Reader. Very cool!

I will post a link on the sidebar to take you to the Amazon store for this!

RED "Meizler Module"

You might have heard about the new RED Epic "Meizler Module"

I thought I would say a little about Steven Meizler, to give you an idea of why he is the ideal person to come up with this development. Steven Meizler was the first Assistant Cameraman to ever do a feature with the RED One camera. It was the Che Guevara bio-pic directed by Steven Soderbergh, this was with prototype cameras. It was the Summer of 2007. Besides working on Soderbergh films he has done many Steven Spielberg movies as well as the last few David Fincher films. Take a look at Steven Meizler's IMDB page - impressive isn't it?

He is the most professional camera asssitant I have ever met. Prepping that first camera was a challenge to say the least, RED has come a long way!

RouteCase┬« Mini Location Switcher

Okay I am probably geeking out over all the new NAB 2012 stuff I am seeing from my home computer. I couldn't go to NAB at the last minute and I am watching live.twit.tv - it is really good coverage. I am seeing stuff I might have missed if I was there.

This is a product I thought my buddies in the live show buisness would like. It is the RouteCase it is a briefcase sized HD switcher that also has a small mixer in it. It look pretty cool, so anyway now I have a bookmark for future reference. If I was doing a small meeting and had a few HD cameras and a computer to switch from this look like something that might be handy.

JVC Blu-ray Recorder, HD-SDI Input

This looks interesting, this was from a JVC press release:
JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced the SR-HD2500US, the latest model in its successful line of high performance professional combo decks. With its built-in Blu-ray recorder and 500 GB hard drive, the unit provides easy duplication and disc authoring without a PC. Plus, it features an HD/SD-SDI input, which allows it to connect to most professional video systems and provide direct recording of a live signal to Blu-ray disc.
The SR-HD2500US offers a number of upgrades over JVC’s previous Blu-ray combo decks. For example, time code mode allows producers to a create a “window burn” of the time code embedded in the SDI signal. It is an easy way to create high-quality dailies and client review copies – and the window burn is in the picture area, making it far less attractive for unauthorized use.
