about briferg

I am Brian Ferguson, aka briferg. People often misspell my name as Brain. I am Brian with a Brain, filled with lots of facts and trivia. I have been making films for many years. I started in still photography in 1979 in Phoenix, AZ at Karbelnikoff Studios, the studio did lots of ad agency and design firm work. I was the photo assistant/studio manager. Eventually our clients asked my boss Michael Karbelnikoff to make commercials and that is how I got started in film.

Cinematography is a natural fit for all of the tool and gadget lust I have had my whole life. My Dad owned an autobody shop so working with tools is in the genetics I guess. I always have people asking me about various gadgets and tech. Why not share this tech trivia for those seeking it? Everything is my opinion here, my perspective. I may not be correct. If you see something I can improve let me know. But I do have a point of view and mostly based on many experiences. Most of those experiances are as a freelance Director of Photography. I have done consulting work for Oakley and RED Digital Camera.

Many years ago, before I got knee deep in photography I was a prep cook at the Scottsdale Hilton. I have always had a love of cooking since. These days there is a glut of food & chef “porn” on the Net to share. So there is that area of interest also. I have a love of wine and dinning in general. So there is a wide open bunch of stuff to post here. Thanks for checking out my site!
